Beriev Aircraft Company completed a major overhaul of the Tu-142ME long haul anti-submarine warfare aircraft

On Decem­ber 2, 2011, the Tu-142ME long haul anti-sub­ma­rine war­fare (ASW) air­craft (tail num­ber 312) was hand­ed-over­to the Indi­an Navy after a major over­haul at Beriev Air­craft Com­pa­ny. The air­craft com­plet­ed all nec­es­sary flight-test­ing. On Decem­ber 5, 2011 it was hand­ed-over to the Indi­an Navy and depart­ed to its home base.

Eight Tu-142ME air­craft man­u­fac­tured at Tagan­rog in the end of the 1980‑s were deliv­ered to the Indi­an Navy. The Indi­an part has been coop­er­at­ing close­ly with Rosoboronex­port and Beriev Air­craft Com­pa­ny regard­ing the issues of repair/overhaul and ser­vice-life extension.

Beriev Air­craft Com­pa­ny pro­vides after­sales and main­te­nance ser­vices (includ­ing over­hauls and spare parts deliv­ery) for the air­craft deliv­ered to the Indi­an Navy.

In gen­er­al, the over­haul pro­gram of the Indian’s Tu-142MEs will be car­ried out at Beriev Air­craft Com­pa­ny in the peri­od till 2020.
