USA — Army Announces Conversion of Brigade to Stryker Configuration

The Depart­ment of the Army announced today the con­ver­sion of 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Divi­sion at Fort Bliss, Texas, from a mod­u­lar heavy brigade com­bat team to a Stryk­er brigade com­bat team.

1–1AD will con­vert to the mod­u­lar SBCT struc­ture of approx­i­mate­ly 4,160 Sol­diers effec­tive Jan­u­ary 2011. This force struc­ture action rep­re­sents an increase of approx­i­mate­ly 420 mil­i­tary autho­riza­tions.

This con­ver­sion will take approx­i­mate­ly 24 months for the unit to con­duct new equip­ment train­ing, field­ing and col­lec­tive train­ing. The unit will enter the avail­able force pool by sec­ond quar­ter fis­cal year 2013.
