NATO Deputy Sec­re­tary Gen­er­al vis­its Kuwait

On 27 Jan­u­ary 2009 the NATO Deputy Sec­re­tary Gen­er­al Ambas­sador Clau­dio Bisog­niero paid an offi­cial vis­it to Kuwait, in the frame­work of the Istan­bul Coop­er­a­tion Ini­tia­tive.

Dur­ing the vis­it the Deputy Sec­re­tary Gen­er­al held bilat­er­al talks with His High­ness Sheikh Nass­er Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, the Prime Min­is­ter of the State of Kuwait; H.E. Sheikh Dr. Moham­mad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Min­is­ter and Min­is­ter of For­eign Affairs of the State of Kuwait; and with H.E. Sheikh Thamer Ali Al-Sabah.

Dur­ing a speech deliv­ered at the Kuwait Diplo­mat­ic Insti­tute the Deputy Sec­re­tary Gen­er­al of NATO said: “Kuwait was the first Gulf coun­try to join the ICI, fol­lowed lat­er by Qatar, Bahrain and the Unit­ed Arab Emi­rates. And we have been very pleased to see Kuwait mak­ing excel­lent use of the ICI process.” and also remarked: “My talks with Kuwaiti offi­cials here today have once again under­lined their deter­mi­na­tion in tak­ing our rela­tion­ship fur­ther. And we very much wel­come that, and can assure you of NATO’s com­mit­ment in that direc­tion”.
