Japanese Navy Training Ships Arrives In Mumbai

Japan­ese Mar­itime Self Defence Force Train­ing Ships JDS Kashima, JDS Shi­mayu­ki and JDS Mat­suyu­ki are on a vis­it to Mum­bai from 21 to 26 Jun 12. Rear Admi­ral Hidetoshi Fuchi­noue, Com­man­der Japan Train­ing Squadron is the senior offi­cer present afloat.

The ships are on over­seas train­ing cruise and vis­it­ing 14 coun­tries in the Indi­an Ocean Region.

On the side­lines of the vis­it, Rear Admi­ral Fuchi­noue, Com­man­der Japan Train­ing Squadron along with Aki­ta­ka Sai­ki, Ambas­sador of Japan at New Del­hi inter­act­ed with the Com­man­der in Chief, West­ern Naval Com­mand. In addi­tion, var­i­ous cultural/social/sports activ­i­ties were organ­ised for the vis­it­ing Japan­ese ships.

Both coun­tries have come a long way in insti­tu­tion­al­is­ing the defence rela­tion­ship between the two coun­tries.
