Iraq — Iraqi Forces Arrest Suspected Terrorists, Associates

WASHINGTON, Aug. 11, 2010 — Iraqi secu­ri­ty forces arrest­ed six peo­ple today sus­pect­ed of aid­ing al-Qai­da in Iraq and the Promised Day Brigade ter­ror­ist group, mil­i­tary offi­cials report­ed.

In Fal­lu­jah, Iraqi forces work­ing with U.S. advi­sors arrest­ed a sus­pect­ed al-Qai­da in Iraq mem­ber believed to have ties to the organization’s lead­er­ship, along with two alleged crim­i­nal asso­ciates.

In Diyala, Iraqi forces work­ing with U.S. advi­sors arrest­ed a sus­pect­ed Promised Day Brigade leader who alleged­ly planned attacks against coali­tion forces. Two sus­pect­ed crim­i­nal asso­ciates were arrest­ed with him.
