Irak — Iraqis Arrest Six Terrorism Suspects

BAGHDAD, May 11, 2010 — Iraqi forces arrest­ed two sus­pect­ed al-Qai­da in Iraq mem­bers and four crim­i­nal asso­ciates dur­ing sep­a­rate oper­a­tions con­duct­ed with U.S. advi­sors in south­ern and north­ern Iraq today.

Iraqi forces work­ing with U.S. advi­sors arrest­ed a sus­pect­ed al-Qai­da in Iraq mem­ber in Bagh­dad who alleged­ly is involved in assas­si­na­tions and has ties to the ter­ror organization’s senior lead­er­ship, along with four of his asso­ciates.

In anoth­er oper­a­tion north­east of Bagh­dad, Iraqi forces work­ing with U.S. advi­sors arrest­ed an al-Qai­da in Iraq mem­ber alleged­ly involved in bomb­ing and mor­tar attacks, assas­si­na­tions, kid­nap­pings and insur­gent financ­ing.
