Irak — Iraqi Forces Arrest 8 Terrorism Suspects

WASHINGTON, May 21, 2010 — Iraqi secu­ri­ty forces arrest­ed eight sus­pect­ed ter­ror­ists in recent com­bined oper­a­tions in Iraq with U.S. advi­sors, mil­i­tary offi­cials report­ed.

South of Tikrit today, Iraqi forces and U.S. advi­sors search­ing for a sus­pect­ed senior al-Qai­da in Iraq leader who’s alleged­ly involved in plan­ning and exe­cut­ing high-pro­file attacks arrest­ed three sus­pect­ed crim­i­nal asso­ciates of the want­ed man.

In Mosul yes­ter­day, Iraqi forces work­ing with U.S. advi­sors search­ing for a sus­pect­ed al-Qai­da in Iraq leader alleged­ly involved in dis­trib­ut­ing funds to oth­er mem­bers of the ter­ror orga­ni­za­tion in the city arrest­ed one his sus­pect­ed asso­ciates.

Also yes­ter­day, Iraqi forces work­ing with U.S. advi­sors arrest­ed a sus­pect­ed al-Qai­da in Iraq mem­ber and three crim­i­nal asso­ciates west of Mosul.
