India — Revamping of Submarine Fleet

Mod­erni­sa­tion of the sub­ma­rine fleet is being under­tak­en on a pro­gres­sive basis to main­tain com­bat wor­thi­ness. The equipment/systems that have undergone/are under­go­ing mod­ern­iza­tion are com­bat sys­tem, sen­sors, nav­i­ga­tion com­plex, com­mu­ni­ca­tion suite and aux­il­iary equip­ment.

The first of six Scor­pene class sub­marines being con­struct­ed at M/s Mazagon Dock Lim­it­ed Mum­bai under Project-75, is sched­uled for deliv­ery in June 2015 and the last (sixth) in Sep­tem­ber 2018. All six sub­marines are being con­struct­ed con­cur­rent­ly.
