EU — EU position on the Falkland Islands

State­ment by High Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Cather­ine Ash­ton recall­ing the EU posi­tion on the Falk­land Islands

Cather­ine Ash­ton, High Rep­re­sen­ta­tive of the Union for For­eign Affairs and Secu­ri­ty Pol­i­cy and Vice-Pres­i­dent of the Com­mis­sion, made today — in the con­text of the EU-Latin Amer­i­ca and the Caribbean Sum­mit in Madrid — the fol­low­ing statement:

“The Falk­land Islands are asso­ci­at­ed with the Euro­pean Union as an over­seas ter­ri­to­ry of the UK in accor­dance with Arti­cles 198/204 of Part Four of the Treaty on the Func­tion­ing of the Euro­pean Union.”
