“The Coun­cil wel­comes the adop­tion of the Unit­ed Nations Secu­ri­ty Coun­cil Res­o­lu­tion 1929. This Res­o­lu­tion under­lines the deep con­cerns with­in the inter­na­tion­al com­mu­ni­ty about Iran’s nuclear pro­gramme. The offer of nego­ti­a­tions remains on the table. The Coun­cil reit­er­ates its sup­port for a nego­ti­at­ed solu­tion and for the efforts of the EU High Rep­re­sen­ta­tive Cather­ine Ash­ton to meet with Iran­ian coun­ter­parts to dis­cuss their nuclear pro­gramme and oth­er issues of mutu­al con­cern. The Coun­cil dis­cussed this issue and pre­pared the upcom­ing Euro­pean Coun­cil which will take up the issue of strong mea­sures accom­pa­ny­ing and sup­port­ing the UN Secu­ri­ty Coun­cil Resolution.”
