Combined Force Captures Taliban Facilitator

KABUL, Afghanistan, Feb. 9, 2012 — An Afghan and coali­tion secu­ri­ty force cap­tured a Tal­iban facil­i­ta­tor and detained anoth­er sus­pect­ed insur­gent in the Nawa dis­trict of Afghanistan’s Hel­mand province today, mil­i­tary offi­cials report­ed.

The leader pro­vid­ed insur­gents with weapons and coor­di­nat­ed attacks in the Wash­er and Nahr-e Saraj dis­tricts, offi­cials said.

In the Shin­war dis­trict of Nan­garhar province today, a com­bined force cap­tured a Tal­iban leader and detained sev­er­al sus­pects. The leader spe­cial­ized in explo­sives and con­duct­ed attacks in the dis­trict.

Yes­ter­day, a com­bined force in the Pan­jwai dis­trict of Kan­da­har province found and destroyed 2,534 pounds of mar­i­jua­na.
